Reisterstown Library Renovation Completed

JMT Architecture performed the study and renovation for the 14,000 SF  historic Reisterstown Branch Library. Originally built in 1820 with additions in 1969 and 1995, the building needed major interior renovations was recently completed.

Baltimore County asked us to perform a study that assessed window repair/replacement, brick and mortar repair/replacement, courtyard modifications/roof enclosure, floor finishes, cabinetry/built-ins, wall base, existing stairs, historical materials, roof structure, building foundation, brick veneer, and HVAC. As a result of the study, JMT Architecture was asked to perform the renovations incorporated from the study.

New interior finishes were part of the scope to lighten up the finishes and bring in more natural light. The courtyard was enclosed with skylights allowing year round use, stairs were added near the front entrance for access to the second floor, a meeting room was created on the second floor that housed a history room and a new kids space. All the finishes were bright and inviting aligning with BCPL branding colors and additional colors were added to the flooring in the children’s area. Our designs created more flexibility, flow and brightness for the library and the community users.
