College of Health Professions to Break Ground This Summer
We are thrilled to announce that Towson University will be breaking ground for its new 240,000 SF College of Health Professions this Summer. In association with Architect-of-Record, Perkins + Will, JMT Architecture is leading the planning and design of the simulation and skills lab spaces. Working closely with both Perkins + Will and the University, our team is providing a mindful design that reflects the University’s new brand identity and creates a flagship building for the health professions programs on campus.
The College of Health Professions consolidates the dean’s office and the Health Professions Departments at the University: Health Sciences, Kinesiology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science, and Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. The new six-story building includes state-of-the-art simulation and skills labs, more than 30 classrooms, and space for students and faculty to gather and collaborate. The building is expected to be open for the Spring semester of 2024. The project is being designed to LEED Gold standards.
Says Towson University President, Kim Schatzel: “The support for this capital project and our College of Health Professions’ programming will directly benefit the people of our state. Now our faculty and staff, with this first-ever dedicated building, will have world-class resources to support their teaching and research.”
