Patapsco Cools Down

As the Baltimore area sees near record-breaking heat this week, Patapsco High School and Performing Arts Center in Dundalk, Maryland, made the news as the construction crew mounted a brand-new A/C unit on their roof. The improvements are part of a multi-phase renovation project that JMT Architecture is leading. 

The modernization to the school’s HVAC system will make the school 100% air conditioned with the start of the 2019-2020 school year. JMT Architecture is providing architectural design, interior design, and project management services for Patapsco’s multi-phase renovation project, and JMT’s engineers are providing MEP design services.  

The project is now in its final phase, Phase 10, which includes updates to the library media center, kitchen, cafeteria, music classrooms, and gym locker rooms. Earlier Phases included classroom, dance studio, hallway, theater, robotics lab (pictured above), and auditorium improvements. The HVAC improvements have been part of every phase. 

When Baltimore County high school students return to class in September, they will enjoy figuratively, and literally, a much cooler school.

Patapsco High School serves 9th-12th graders as a magnet school for the arts. The High School is a Baltimore County Public School institution and serves a population of more than 1,400 students. Towson Mechanical, Inc. is the project’s General Contractor.
